I took time out from helping with the work of putting on a conference like this and saw some amazing Keynotes that I sketched with Paper 53.

Each year around this time whether I am filling bags for attendees, helping to hang posters, meeting bands and food trucks, or preparing to teach sessions, I am reminded of how lucky I am to work in this district, on this team that each year puts together this amazing event. It just keeps getting better. Here are my highlights from this year's Palooza. Pre - PaloozaThe Elementary iVengers, Tanna Fiske, Marianna Hussain, Margie Brown and I, started the day with a 3 hour session on Coding in the Elementary Classroom. We followed that workshop with a 3 hour session on Makerspaces. Learn Visible Thinking and Nearpod You WillI had the privilege of working with two EE teachers, Natalie Brewer and Maci Shannon, on the power of Sketchnoting, Paper 53 and Nearpod. It was Natalie's Brainchild and it was not only fun to plan, but it had amazing results. We started by introducing the whys of Visible Thinking via Nearpod and we then moved into another of my favorite apps, Paper 53. How can you not love an app who has this posted on their "About" page? DEDICATION TO CRAFT.It’s what gets us up in the morning and keeps us up at night. We work with respect for each other, and the people who use the things we make every day. We’re designers and developers, writers and strategists. We’re musicians, filmmakers, comedians, and karaoke black belts. We’re here because we care about what we make as much as how we make it.Because this a place where detail matters.Because we just love this stuff. FIFTYTHREE IS THE SPACE TO CREATE. I did a brief tutorial and then we gave attendees time to explore the app. I consider any workshop that I am a part of a success if the participants get excited about their new learning and I think that the majority of people in the room were inspired to try their hand at Sketchnoting and/or Paper 53. Here is our opening video. Here are some sketches from one of our attendees who was so excited about what she had learned in the session that she used Paper 53 to document the rest of the conference. Everything ElseHere are some of my other favorite moments from iPadpalooza 2016. |
